Glass Gifts Made By You Workshop

You will have a full day in the studio making presents, whether it is for a wedding gift, a birthday or anniversary present, we like to give ourselves presents too.

If you want to make a round bowl, a square dish, a candle holder, wall panel or even a hand basin splash back. Well, you can. This workshop is the opportunity for you to make up to FIVE items of your choice.

Funky Fused / Wall Panel

Using techniques in fusing you will create wall panel or splash back for behind a hand basin.

As with all the workshops you will be given full tuition throughout the day by the glass artist, Helen, who is also a qualified teacher.

Painting on Glass Workshop

£15 a tile
£30 for a panel (incl. wall fixtures)

Ideal for all ages from 5-95yrs. Our full range of coloured specialised glass paints and pens are totally non toxic which gives peace of mind when being used by little ones. Once the tile or panel is fired you will see an amazing result. Your masterpieces will be encased within the glass.

We recommend a two to three hour session.

Glass Fusion Workshop

You will learn the techniques in fusing to create up to six tiles or three panels, or a combination of tiles and panels. Experimenting with composition using coloured frits, powders, foils and wire.

This is the only workshop where you have the option of a three hour session or full day. We are trying to cater for everyone’s needs, some know exactly what they intend to make, where some people like to take their time.

Advanced Glass Fusion Workshop

You will learn techniques in fusing and slumping to make a wall panel, bowl or candle holder.

This is a full day session.

Art Retreat

Friday 10.30am arrival until Sunday 4pm

Stay in an artists family home where you can relax and unwind in leafy Lymm, with the bonus of using all the facilities on offer in the garden studio.

Booking your accommodation you’ll have the choice of a twin or double room with en suite facilities for 1-2 people sharing on each retreat.

On arrival you’ll be greeted by the artist and shown to your room where you can freshen up or head straight into the studio to get a feel of the atmosphere and use the materials to make inclusions and textures in glass, these will immediately be placed into the kiln and will be ready to see the following day.

After enjoying a bowl of homemade soup with artisan crusty bread you’ll be guided around the local area where you’ll enjoy the scenery and nature at Lymm Dam, along the Bridgewater Canal and the village to see Lymm Cross where the original sandstone monument dates back to Saxon or even Roman times, this stands in the village centre. You may gather information or design ideas from the afternoon for the following day when you’ll make your masterpieces in fused glass.

You’ll discover an array of restaurants and pubs, cafes and takeaways in within Lymm Village and possibly decide to eat at one of these on the Saturday evening or enjoy a takeaway in the artists home, this is the only meal you will not have provided during your stay.

On the Sunday you will make additional pieces of glass art such as light catchers, coasters, orbs, love tokens. Or you may choose to enjoy the surrounding areas such as Tatton Park, Dunham Massey, Manchester, Liverpool or Chester which are all within 40 minutes by car.

Additional Workshop Information

This three hours session you will make 5 Christmas Decorations and 3 Festive Light Catchers

Before the day you could research fused glass for ideas, maybe a piece of fabric for your colour match, a stencil of a pattern you would like to transfer onto glass or even bring your iPad with ideas you have found online? Alternatively, purely gather your inspiration on the day from the glass which fills the walls and shelves in our garden studio.

If you decide on the day you’d like to make additional pieces this can be accommodated and paid for on the day.

  • No experience needed.
  • All safety equipment is provided by the artist.
  • No open toed shoes, you are in a glass workshop!
  • Please park in the drive and follow the path.
  • Refreshments throughout the day are provided.

Please bring your own lunch on the full day workshop….we are only good at cooking glass here!

For collection of work, we ask for a week turnaround after your workshop date to allow for firing. Delivery is extra cost.
